We know what you did this summer! ‘’Eyes on Transilvania ‘’ Youth exchange, Erasmus+ program, 29th of July – 7th of August 2019

An exciting new project, a youth exchange funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program unfolded in Sighisoara between 29th of July -7th of August 2019. Dutch and Romanian youths met and organized together a series of workshops designed at finding more about Romanian and Dutch cultures by using photography, graphic design, drawing and lyrics.

The participants focused on Transilvania, as one of the largest regions of Romania, and on making a difference between the myth of Dracula and the real history of the place. Youths engaged in research on the main UNESCO heritage of both countries involved, made pictures and videos, presentations that will be used to show in each of their communities what they found out, what they learned and how they changed their perspectives on other cultures after this experience. In order to find out more about other opportunities provided through the Erasmus+ program, Alexandra Negrei and two EVS volunteers from Wild Carpathia NGO from Sighisoara were our guests and presented their activity to the youth engaged in the youth exchange. Although the main activities unfolded in the medieval town of Sighisoara, youths also visited Bucharest and Cluj Napoca, and got in touch with locals, finding out more about Romania and its cultural aspects.

Avedan Welzjin & Studio 15 as coordinators and Imago Mundi as partner, worked together for making this project a success story and a first Erasmus+ experience for the majority of the participants, one that they will for sure want to repeat. Local activities implemented by Dutch youths in Almelo and by Romanian youths in the county of Arges, Romania will unfold starting from September 2019.
